£ 1 545.00
The 901RS Limited Edition has a very special provenance, firstly being directly inspired by the iconic Porsche 911, arguably one of the most iconic sports cars in the world, with detailing such as lines echoing the body lines, case back inspired by the Fuchs alloy wheels on the original cars and drilled brake rotors. The dial has a number of subtle details matching the instruments of the original car such as the fuel gauge and speedometer text. The 1973 aircooled Carrera RS (Rennsport) 2.7 was the first 911-derived race car and the first production race 911 widely offered to the public. Only 1,580 were produced and prices on those still around have since skyrocketed, making it one the most sought-after and legendary sports cars ever built, while a legend thanks to their fantastic performance and aggressive styling. This particular watch features the dial metal cut directly from VIN number 9113600237, a historically significant car, that competed in multiple rallies and owned by a number of race drivers during its life. Starting its life as a road car, it was quickly changed to compete in numerous rallies including the prestigous Lombard and Monte Carlo rallies, in an eye catching yellow and black colour scheme that we see copied in the colour scheme of the watch. As each piece included in each limited edition watch has been on an actively competing vehicle, each dial is visually unique, with its own patterns and marks gained during its history.Having changed ownership several times, the car was restored for almost 3 decades, bringing the battle scarred car to its former glory, and sold on to a new owner in 2015.The watch features a fantastic specification, befitting the high performance nature of the car that inspired it, an automatic movement with power reserve, in a solid stainless steel case, engraved with the VIN number on the side of the case. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a clear exhibition case back showcasing the movement. This watch is limited to 250 pieces worldwide, with each watch sent with a story card highlighting some fantastic imagery of the original vehicle, and more information on the rich history of the car.
